By the side of the road

I pulled over, on the way home from the grocery store, to get shots of this tree. I had passed it so many times, wanting to stop. I was drawn by the shape of the branches that curved so gently and the tiny pinecones. After getting out of the car I realized that I was not going to get any good shots because the tree was much higher than I thought and I was unable to get an interesting perspective.

All was not lost, though, because I was able to spend another twenty minutes shooting the weeds, and other vegetation, as well as the infrastructure around the nearby telephone pole. I am so easily amused. (All shots are straight from the camera.)

A local walk

I remember this day, way back in winter, but probably over sixty degrees. It was Sunday morning and I got to work before the store opened. I was quite grumpy (a common occurence, sad to say) so I went out for a walk with camera in hand. I shot anything and everything, and returned full of good cheer and amazed at all there is to see in this world of ours, if only within a .25 mile radius. I continue to be impressed with the versatility of the 50 mm lens. And yes, I sure do like to shoot with it wide open. (Click on any of the images to view them larger.)

Watkins Mill - Graffiti Side

Boogieman and I have been here before with cameras in hand. This time the girl came with me. Here are her shots. (You don't want to miss "token with tolkein.")

Boogieman and I have always explored the east of the bridge/overpass. But the girl was eager to look and and photograph the graffiti. So we went under the bridge and out the other side.

The graffiti was pretty spectacular, but certainly not moreso than the sun reflecting on the water, the rock formations, or taking off your shoes and feeling the cold, wet, mossy ground.

Lost in the Weeds, again

Driving down the road, it was these colors that caught my attention.
