Sunset

(Catching up on my backlog.)

This was an early experiment with the 50 mm to see what it did with a sunset, wide open.

I like the result.

50mm f/1.4, my new speedy friend.

Got a new lens for Christmas! At f/1.4 it's got lots of potential for bokeh. :) It's also small which makes it possible to have slower shutter speeds without camera shake.

All of these were taken at f/1.4 in Aperture Priority mode, with no post-processing.

It takes great shots indoors, in low light.



And great "frizzle" pictures. (I took quite a few of these!)





Just a few weeks ago, these grasses looked like this. Can you believe that these are in my backyard and I never noticed this transformation? In my defense, it's only recently that they have gotten this tall. But, still!



And and experimental, pine needle shot, using manual focus.

Gracie was having a hard time figuring out why I was on the outside of the fence and she was on the inside.

I finished off the adventure with a Squirrel Chase.

It Rains

From yesterday, at dusk, in our store's parking lot. The rain and reflections and lights were too much for me to resist. I'm getting better with night shots. I did not use a tripod on this one and got away with it.

And I really like what the Ink Outlines filter produced, it makes rain reflections so striking.

Christmas Bokeh

I put the camera on manual (thank you for your encouragement B*!) again last night, and even used the manual focus (fun!). Well, duh, it's much easier to get bokeh with a manual focus. Especially if you are shooting nothing but Christmas lights. :)











I was very excited about this last shot, with reflected bokeh, until I uploaded and saw that it was not-quite-perfect-bokeh. I'm going to try this one again, possibly tonight, and will post another if I can get a technically better shot.
